I thought youre not supposed to put oil on the pasta because it prevents the sauce from sticking to the noodles.

Boiling the water and adding g olive oil before you put in the spaghetti. The Italians will love this

@aelthric

For a chef Gordon Ramsay is completely clueless, you waste valuable oil putting oil into a pot of boiling water to cook pasta, the oil does nothing except float around in blobs and then gets thrown away with the water, it does NOT stop pasta sticking to itself, that is done in the way you spread out the pasta as you put it in the boiling water NO OIL NEEDED… NEWBIE MISTAKE BY GORDON (FOUL MOUTHED BASTARD) RAMSAY…

Gordon Ramsay will argue the oil coats the spaghetti to form a waterproof barrier to prevent the indiviual spaghetti strands from sticking together, so even if this fallacy was true then how would the water "REHYDRATE" the spaghetti if it creates a waterproof barrier around the pasta?

This is complete nonsense that NO ITALIAN CHEF would ever entertain unless they were writing off the wasted oil as a loss for tax purposes…

An idiot failed footballer who was made famous not for culinary excellence but because he was the rudest and most foul mouthed restauranteur in the UK…

If you knew what you were doing, you don't need oil into the rolling boil, I have never used it, and they never stick together.
Also hell no that wasn't Al dente. Limp ass spaghetti without springiness.

That table spoon of olive oil looked like a 1/4th of a cup.
